The Yoga Obsession: What Brings People to Yoga & What Keeps Them Coming Back
Flexibility – Balance – Strength – Stress Relief
What’s more interesting to me is what makes people stay. After consistent practice, many students quickly realize: they can’t NOT do yoga.
Why?
1. Yoga feels so good in the body. Once people realize how good the body feels after yoga practice, they can’t stand to be away from the practice. They become acutely aware of the physical pain they experience when they spend a few days away from their yoga mat.
2. The mind gets a reset. Yoga requires presence. It gives the mind a break. Students walk into the studio with stress and worry. They walk out with a fresh perspective and a positive attitude.
3. The breath/body connection activates the parasympathetic nervous system which also promotes relaxation and reduces stress, putting students in a place to contend with the realities life throws at them.
Students begin to realize that the benefits in the body are only the beginning.
The physical practice of yoga is a tool to engage the mind-body-spirit connection and tap in to the authentic self.
