Aerial yoga is a type of yoga that combines traditional yoga poses with the use of a hammock or silk fabric suspended from the ceiling. Also known as anti-gravity yoga, it allows practitioners to perform various yoga poses with the support and assistance of the hammock, which helps to deepen stretches, improve flexibility, and enhance strength.
There are various types of aerial yoga. Aerial can be fun and challenging or relaxing and restorative. Either way, it provides a unique and creative way to experience traditional yoga postures in a suspended position.
Aerial yoga is not the same as aerial silks and other aerial arts. Aerial yoga is grounded in traditional yoga principles and focuses on breath, mindful movement, and sensation, rather than artistry, performance, or circus tricks.
